ACD is located in the centre of Dublin on historic Merrion Square and is within walking distance of the best of the city’s cultural amenities – theatres, museums, galleries, restaurants and traditional pubs. The College appreciates that studying in Ireland is not just about the classes; it is also about experiencing the culture of Dublin and Ireland. Therefore, the study abroad programme is designed so that its students have ample opportunies to engage at first hand with the warmth and friendliness that is associated with the Irish culture in a city that is renowned for its friendly people and exciting nightlife.

American College Dublin is truly an international school. An international faculty provide academically rigorous courses that are enjoyed by students of 60 different nationalities. Class sizes are small, which makes for a personalized and intimate learning experience. The major areas of study are liberal arts (with tracks in Irish studies, English literature, history and American studies), international business, hospitality management, and accounting and finance.

Students can study at ACD during the fall and spring semesters (16 weeks) as well as in the summer. The summer sessions run for 4 or 8 weeks, taught usually by ACD faculty, though often faculty-led by a teacher from the home institution. The College can also arrange custom-designed internships in Ireland for each term (in the summer semester this needs to be for a minimum of 8 weeks). Moreover, all of the institution’s programmes offer the opportunity to combine study in the classroom with cultural excursions in and around Ireland.
