American College Dublin reviews, evaluates and accepts International Baccalaureate (IB) higher level credentials for possible transfer credit on an individual basis in the context of a student’s proposed area of study. The amount of credit and level of placement are subject to approval by the appropriate academic department. Course credit is generally granted for each higher level examination passed with a score of 5, 6 or 7 in courses comparable to American College Dublin courses and appropriate to the degree program. A score of 4 may qualify a student for advanced placement without credit, subject to departmental review. Credit is awarded only for courses at the higher level; no credit is awarded for IB standard level examinations, regardless of the scores earned.
